LA Times: We Can’t Be Frenemies with Big Oil

We heartily agree with the sentiments expressed in the recent LA Times editorial: Hoping Fossil Fuel Giants Will See the Light on Climate Hasn’t Worked. Change Only Comes with Mandates and Force.

“The more we experience the horrors of climate-fueled extremes, from destructive storms and wildfires to deadly and debilitating smoke and heat waves, the clearer it ought to be that we cannot trust in the same actors whose dangerous, unhealthful and unsustainable products are responsible for more than a century of unabated dumping of greenhouse gas pollution into the atmosphere.

Remaining frenemies with fossil fuel companies in the naive hope they will see the light on climate change is a losing proposition for humanity. It’s good that more people are starting to recognize that, though it will take political leadership to kick the recalcitrant fossil fuel industry to the curb and build a sustainable economy right now.”

Couldn’t have said it better!
