This factsheet provides a short summary of key issues related to how climate change affects our diverse population of older adults and what solutions can move toward equitable and resilient communities for older adults.

Older adults are important members of our communities. But older adults experience high risks due to the climate crisis. These risks are magnified for older adults of color, as well as low-income older people. By including older people in climate considerations and planning processes, we can create communities that are safer and better for everyone. These resources review the range of threats that older adults face due to the climate crisis and explore how those threats may play out differently based on race, income, ability, age bracket, and more. The resources set out a range of policy approaches that address these challenges, along with case studies that showcase opportunities and challenges.
